Science will be taught using an inquiry-based approach, utilizing the Scientific Method/Process. Units/lessons will abide with the Common Core, whereas also with state/district mandated standards and be derived from the Interconnections curriculum, whereas also information, materials and ideas obtained from the Professional Science Inquiry Academy workshops through out the 2013-2014 school year. Physical Changes of the Earth, Heredity, Physical/Chemical Changes (Matter), Magnetism and Electricity are the units/content areas that will be covered.
Social Studies will be taught utilizing units/lesson ideas within the Interconnection curriculum in conjunction with the Common Core and state/district mandated standards. Emphasis will be placed on Map Skills and Geography. Additionally, students will be learning about Early Explorers, Colonization, the American Revolution, Government/Constitution, the Industrial Revolution and U.S./State History.
